Where History Meets Progress is a series of photographs representing Barnesville, OH. Through portrait and landscape, the work examines life in a small town, and references the complicated relationship local residents have with the coal and fracking industries. The land in this region has been abused for generations in order to provide energy (coal and now natural gas) to the nation. The industry continues despite proven health risks to those who live there, and the development of alternative energy options.
